If you’re new here — hi, I’m Jamie, the heart behind Capturing Candid Photography. I’m a Tulsa wedding photographer who believes your wedding day should feel as good as it looks. I’m here to document the real, the emotional, the high-energy, and the in-between moments — while helping you actually enjoy your day.

The View at Hillside Barn Wedding for Hope and Austin on October 4, 2025 was one I’ll never forget — not just because it was my first 10-hour wedding day (which was such a milestone for me), but because it was absolutely electric in the best way.

Memorable.

High-energy.

Authentic.

That’s the only way to describe it.

The View at Hillside Barn in Sapulpa, OK

The View at Hillside Barn is one of those venues that gives you versatility and charm all in one. Nestled just outside of Tulsa, it has that peaceful Oklahoma countryside feel without being far from the city.

One of my favorite parts of this venue? Separate spaces on site for both the girls and the guys to get ready. That makes such a difference in the flow of the day. No transportation chaos. No timeline stress. Everyone gets to settle in, relax, and be present.

On October 4th, we had the most beautiful fall weather. A little bit of wind (which honestly makes for dreamy veil movement), crisp air, and golden light that wrapped around everything. It was giving fairytale from the start.

How They Met: A Note on the Car

Hope and Austin met at the gym. And when Austin decided he wasn’t going to just “maybe” ask her out — he went for it. He left a note on her car.

She still has it to this day.

I love stories like that because they tell you everything about a couple before the wedding even starts. Intentional. Brave. A little romantic. And completely authentic.

That authenticity carried through their entire wedding day.

A Cinderella Moment (But Make It Real Life)

Hope had one clear vision: fairytale.

And she delivered.

Her dress shimmered. Her shoes glittered. Every detail felt intentional without feeling forced. Her bridesmaids wore the most stunning Cinderella blue dresses that popped beautifully against the soft fall tones of October in Oklahoma.

She truly had her Cinderella moment.

But what made it even better? It didn’t feel staged. It felt like her.

At the head table, one of her family friends handcrafted the cutest Cinderella pumpkin decoration. It was thoughtful, personal, and such a sweet nod to the theme without overpowering the elegance of the day.

That’s something I always tell my brides — the magic is in the details that mean something to you.

An Emotional First Look With Dad

Before the ceremony, Hope shared a first look with her dad.

He gifted her a cross necklace.

It was emotional. Real tears. Real pride. Real love.

Those are the moments that matter most to me as a photographer. Anyone can photograph a pretty dress. Not everyone can anticipate the second a dad’s composure breaks because he sees his little girl as a bride.

That’s why I always build buffer into timelines. You can’t rush emotion.

My First 10-Hour Wedding Day

This was my first official 10-hour wedding day — and honestly? I loved every second of it.

Ten hours allows space. And space allows authenticity.

There’s room for:

Calm getting ready moments

Real conversations

Unplanned laughter

Wind-blown veil shots

Sunset portraits

Dance floor chaos

Nothing felt rushed. Nothing felt squeezed in.

And that changes everything about how a gallery feels when it’s delivered.

Ceremony at The View at Hillside Barn

The ceremony space at The View at Hillside Barn is stunning because it lets the natural surroundings do the work. With the soft October light and that slight breeze, it felt cinematic without trying too hard.

When Hope walked down the aisle, Austin’s face said it all.

And the wind? It caught her veil just enough to feel romantic without being chaotic. Sometimes Oklahoma weather shows up exactly how it’s supposed to.

Reception Energy: Unmatched

If I could bottle the reception energy from this wedding, I would.

Hope was a whole vibe on the dance floor. Fully present. Fully celebrating. No holding back.

That’s what happens when a bride feels comfortable, confident, and genuinely happy with her vendor team.

The music from Lions Road DJ kept the dance floor packed all night. The cake from Merritt’s Bakery was not only beautiful but delicious (always important). And working alongside Daniel Murphree Films was seamless — which makes a huge difference in how smoothly a wedding day runs.

When vendors work well together, couples feel it.

How Hope Found Me

Hope told me she found me scrolling and searching on Facebook. She was on the hunt for a photographer who specialized in beautiful candid shots.

And that’s exactly what Capturing Candid Photography is about.

But what sealed the deal wasn’t just the photos.

It was connection.

She valued working with someone who shared similar beliefs. Someone who radiated positivity and joy. Someone who would add to the day — not just document it.

That’s why I always meet with my couples before they officially book. We’re going to spend 8–10+ hours together on one of the most important days of your life. Comfort matters. Energy matters. Alignment matters.

Your photographer isn’t just holding a camera.

They’re in your getting ready room.

They’re calming nerves.

They’re fixing veils.

They’re guiding timelines.

They’re protecting moments.

We were a great fit — and you could feel it all day.
